What factors can lead to ink transfer in inkjet printers?

If the printer prints are not sufficiently dry, cured or fixed to the surface of the wire insulation or cable bushing, the ink may transfer to adjacent areas when the product is wound onto the spool. These 'ghost images' can reduce the perceived quality of the product, but the condition is completely preventable. What factors lead to ink transfer? The following four factors are analyzed to cause ink transfer and aggravate its severity:

1. High temperature

Even after the water bath has cooled, the temperature of cables and other extruded products wound on spools is often 40°C or higher. This constant heat and pressure can result in significant ink transfer.

2. Plasticizer

A chemical additive called a plasticizer is often used to enhance the properties of the casing material, including the elasticity and durability of the final product. Plasticizers can also be aggressive ink solvents that can interfere with Leadtech Coding, especially until excess plasticizer evaporates or is removed by other means. Some manufacturers wind the product on a large spool, allow it to cool sufficiently, then unwind the wire or cable for Leadtech Coding, and then rewind it on a small spool for distribution to market. 3. The ink is not fully cured
